An acclaimed Egyptian novelist and short-story writer. Holding a degree in Geology from Al-Azhar University, Al-Fakharani is celebrated as one of the most imaginative, poetic, and inventive voices in contemporary Arabic literature. He is the recipient of numerous prestigious honors, including the Cairo International Book Fair Award (2024) for Lunch at the Cook’s House, the Arab World Institute Prize in Paris (2014) for A Pause for Astonishment (translated into French), the Egyptian State Encouragement Prize (2012), and the Yusuf Idris Short Story Prize (2012). Known for his delicate, fable-like narratives, lyrical prose, and philosophical explorations of human innocence and survival, his major works include A Thousand Wings for the World, Free Mood, See You in Heaven, and It Happened in My Favorite Street.
