An internationally acclaimed Palestinian-Jordanian novelist, poet, painter, and photographer born in Amman to parents uprooted during the 1948 Nakba. Recognized as one of the most prolific, towering, and transformative figures in modern world literature, Nasrallah made global literary history as the 2026 Laureate of the Neustadt International Prize for Literature (widely regarded as the “American Nobel”)—becoming the first-ever Arabic-language writer to win this prestigious honor in its history. He made Arab literary history after winning the prestigious International Prize for Arabic Fiction 2018 for his dystopian masterwork The Second Dog War, and became the first writer to win the Katara Prize for Arabic Novel twice (2016 for Spirits of Kilimanjaro and 2020 for A Tank Under the Christmas Tree). He is also the recipient of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Award for Poetry. Author of over twenty-two novels and fifteen poetry collections translated into numerous global languages, Nasrallah is celebrated worldwide for his monumental epic cycle, The Palestinian Comedy (Al-Malha’a Al-Filastiniyya)—a panoramic series spanning more than 250 years of modern Palestinian history.
