Sherifa Al-Toubi

An acclaimed Omani novelist, short-story writer, and sociologist. A graduate of Sultan Qaboos University, she worked for years as a civil officer within the Royal Oman Police before dedicating herself to literature and cultural journalism. She is the recipient of prestigious regional honors, including the Cultural Creativity Award (2021) for her novel Prisoner of Blueness and the Sharjah Award for Gulf Women’s Creativity (2024) for The Flag: Mount Wayfarers. Renowned for her rich historical panoramas, mastery of oral folklore, and nuanced exploration of female agency and modern Gulf transformations, Al-Toubi is the author of several celebrated works, culminating in her monumental trilogy Al-Bayraq (The Flag), whose final installment, Gust of Wind, was longlisted for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction 2026.
