An internationally acclaimed Syrian novelist, journalist, and human rights advocate. Forced into exile in Paris following the 2011 Syrian uprising, she founded Women Now for Development, a leading NGO dedicated to empowering Syrian women and children. Yazbek is the recipient of numerous prestigious international honors, including the PEN Pinter International Writer of Courage Award (2012), the Swedish PEN Tucholsky Prize (2012), and France’s Best Foreign Book Prize (Prix du Meilleur Livre Étranger, 2016).
