Cosmetic Surgery

BY THE YUSUF IDRIS LITERARY PRIZE WINNER & ACCLAIMED NOVELIST ZAINAB AFIFI. When a charismatic surgeon sweeps into a quiet city with an elixir of eternal youth, every citizen transforms overnight. But this “happy pandemic” soon plunges the metropolis into absolute chaos: elders refuse to retire, marriages disintegrate under newfound physical vitality, and cosmetic deformities sweep through the youth. Amidst this synthetic perfection, only one woman, Sherihan, fiercely resists the needle-choosing to protect the true, uncarved map of her lived memories and natural aging over artificial immortality. Zainab Afifi delivers a brilliant, darkly satirical fantasy about vanity, mortality, and the genuine beauty of the human soul, offering a sharp, exquisitely written confrontation with a masked, ageless world.
