Mohamed Al-Shahri

An acclaimed Omani novelist, cultural researcher, and photographer born in the Dhofar mountains. Rooted in the ancient oral heritage and the Shehri language of Southern Arabia, Al-Shahri is celebrated as one of the most distinctive and courageous voices in contemporary Gulf literature. He is the author of celebrated works, including the widely acclaimed novel Mooshka (adapted for the theater), The Last Ahqafi, the travelogue The Nomadic Path, and His Name is Al-Asmar (Dar Al-Adab). Known for his rich sensory prose and deep anthropological grounding, Al-Shahri’s fiction fearlessly excavates Dhofari history, the Dhofar rebellion, the legacy of slavery and emancipation, generational alienation, and the unyielding fight for human dignity.
