Ahmed Al-Qarmalawi
An Egyptian novelist and architect who balances technical precision with deep emotional resonance, Ahmed Al-Qarmlawi is a prominent voice of his generation whose work continuously interrogates heritage and modernity. He won the prestigious Sheikh Zayed Book Award for Young Author (2018) for his novel Summer Rains (Amtaar Sayfiya), a text celebrated for its exquisite exploration of memory, Sufi music, and the shifting identity of Cairo. Continuing his impressive literary streak, he earned the Katara Prize for Arabic Novel (2021) for The Heirs of Al-Sheikh (Warathat Al-Sheikh).
