Ahmed Sabry Aboul Fotouh

A former Egyptian prosecutor and judge turned monumental novelist, Ahmed Sabry Abu Al-Fotouh is an uncompromising champion of social justice and the architect of one of modern Arabic literature’s most ambitious projects. He is best known for The Saraswa Epic (Malhamat Al-Saraswa), a massive, multi-volume masterpiece that meticulously chronicles the formation, values, and eventual fracturing of the Egyptian middle class from the late 18th century through the 20th century.
