Salem Al-Saqoor

An acclaimed Saudi novelist, writer, and dental surgeon. The founder of the prominent “Amma Ba’ad” bookstore, Al-Saqoor is the recipient of the Saudi Ministry of Culture Award for Folk Tales and Legends. He made a striking, widely discussed literary debut with his concise masterwork The Tribe That Laughs at Night (published by Miskiliani), which reached multiple print editions and was selected for cinematic adaptation into a feature film. Renowned for his poetic economy, psychological candor, and philosophical depth, Al-Saqoor’s fiction fearlessly interrogates tribal dogma, male vulnerability, collective conformity, and the existential meaning of fatherhood.
