An acclaimed Libyan novelist, short-story writer, and civil engineer born in Tripoli in 1984. She rose to literary prominence after winning the inaugural Mai Ghassoub Novel Prize in 2019 for her debut novel A’idun (The Returned), published by Dar Al-Saqi. Serving as an editor for the Libyan literary platform Fasila, Al-Jahmi is recognized as one of the most compelling young voices in contemporary North African literature. She is the author of the short story collection The Fat Cats’ Neighborhood (2021) and the celebrated novel The Colonel (2022). Her work masterfully weaves social realism with psychological nuance, fearlessly exploring themes of post-revolution identity, generational conflict, and the complex historical traumas of modern Libya.
