Abdelmajid Sebbata

An acclaimed Moroccan novelist, translator, and civil engineer. Recognized as a premier master of meta-fictional thrillers, polyphonic puzzles, and intellectual suspense in contemporary Arabic literature, Sebbata is the recipient of the Morocco Book Award (2018) for Zero Hour (Sa’at Al-Sifr). He achieved widespread international acclaim when his novel File 42 (Al-Malaf 42) was shortlisted for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction 2021, and was longlisted again in 2026 for The Labyrinths of Mr. F. N.. A prolific translator, he has rendered major world literature into Arabic—including works by Michel Bussi, Joël Dicker, Milan Kundera, and Walter Tevis. Sebbata’s intricately constructed narratives fearlessly dissect historical mysteries, institutional corruption, and the elusive nature of truth.
