Atef El-Hadj Said

An acclaimed Sudanese novelist, academic, and literary translator holding a PhD in Applied Linguistics. He is the recipient of literary honors, including the Tawfiq Bakkar Prize for the Arabic Novel (2021) for Two Suns on the Nile and the Tayeb Salih Award for Novel Creativity (2016) for Stormy, Oh Sea (Aasif Ya Bahr). Author of several acclaimed novels—including Spring and Winter and Heinous, Extraordinary Romances—as well as major Arabic translations of French literature, Said is celebrated for his fearless narrative explorations of forced migration, refugee displacement, gender and sexual identity, and the existential dilemmas of marginalized souls caught in the crosscurrents of societal dogma.
