Ahmed Al-Qarmalawi
An award-winning Egyptian novelist, short-story writer, translator, and architect born in Cairo in 1978. Holding a Construction Engineering degree from the American University in Cairo and an MBA from the University of Edinburgh, he is widely recognized as one of the most versatile and celebrated voices in contemporary Arabic literature. Al-Qarmalawi is the recipient of multiple prestigious literary honors, including the Sheikh Zayed Book Award (2018) for Summer Rains, the Cairo International Book Fair Award (2019) for Last Call for Passengers, and the Katara Prize for Arabic Novel (2021) for Heirs of the Sheikh Family. His works have been translated into English, Italian, Portuguese, and Ukrainian.
